Description

Here's my entry for the stitchingpirates BOOKMARK EXCHANGE.
I had to expedite my schedule to get it done with everything else that's still sitting on my plate and I'm glad I finally just sat down and said, "Get this done!!" because it really only took me a couple hours.

The pattern itself I wish I could source for you guys. It's one of those that waaaaaay back when ones that I lifted off the internet and didn't figure out a source for. I did go searching at the beginning of the month to see if I could figure it out but I'm just at a loss and the pattern I have has three languages on it so clearly this is one that tends to make the pattern piracy rounds. All that said... this pattern is part of a larger collection and I'm not certain if its original intent was to be bookmarks or what.

The original pattern is monochrome black and so I decided when I grabbed my own colors that I would stick to a semi monochromatic theme. The main portion of the fairy is done in Jodyri Designs "August '16 Ltd Edition - Blazing Sun" thread (I assume its cotton), the wings are done in glow-in-the-dark Peach Brilliance metallic thread (the same brand as I used on the Tulip Notebook) and glows green, and the flowers are done in overdyed Kreinik #8 braids from ThreadWorx. Both the Jodyri and Kreinik are done with one strand and the Brilliance thread was done with two.

I am not a fan of variegated thread. I find it really difficult to work with unless the pattern is going to be very straight forward. The flowers on the bottom, for example, in Kreinik, were fine - the only colors in my thread were pink and grey so moving the thread around was pretty smooth to do and didn't bother me. The fairy in Jodyri was a pain, though, with three colors (peach, yellow, and orange) fighting for dominance and me just trying to keep my stitches tidy. I did the "one X at a time" method thinking it would save me from the problems I always face with multicolor thread but in the end I found myself just cutting out the peach thread every time I came to it until I was back at the edges... mrah.

The bookmark I stitched on is prefab(ricated) and I'm not sure what brand it is. White in any case and 18 count fabric. Book in photo is from Harper's Bazar: www.amazon.com/Victorian-Fashi…

I hope whoever ends up with her in the exchange likes her. :la:
