Here's my sixth machine-sewn project: aprons. Joann, my seamstress master, and myself created this pattern from scratch which wasn't really a ton of work butttttttt it handled a lot more math than I was expecting and so Joann did the most of the work on that. Once the pattern was created out of the aptly-named pattern paper I could take home the template and use it to... yeeeeees, make more! There's going to be ten by Christmas this year because my friends benefit from getting my practice projects as gifts.
The idea behind doing something like this over and over is that it forces me into remembering all that I'm doing. Up until now all my projects (the machine cover, dress, shirt, jacket, male dress shirt) have been one-off and though they've taught me a ton of information I find myself still going "hmmm, yeah, put the wrong sides together when?" and that's no good. I need a bit of repetition in my life and making aprons is a fantabulous way to do that.
Soooo yeah! Once I have all the Christmas presents delivered I should be able to take apron orders. That's the dream, right?
White cotton, pink satin, white cotton thread. Fabrics from JoAnn's (not my Joann though, the store ). Custom pattern.
