This is not
a new dress, this is an image edited via the computer. It took about an hour to do the edit work.Edit:
I've kept this up for a week posting all over for feedback and received only positive remarks. I'll be making mock-ups for all dresses that will be available for custom purchase.
I'm working really really
hard to get a proper set up for customizable orders! Most items I see that have customizable work list the options as a rather bulky image, with "background, see these options" sort of a function. While I can't get around this completely - I still need to show which colors are available! - I've never really liked that set up. It seems very... how to put it... disorganized? It's not the easiest way to see where things are going.
What I've done is take the concept from the Sims 3 "Create-A-Style" interface - show the recolorable channels clearly and then give the options for filling them in! I'm sure if you've ever looked for custom content you've seen the blue/green/red/yellow checkerboard on said channels showing you what goes where. This would potentially
work the same way... there's no way I could create an interface such as a dress-up game to pick-and-choosing even simpler, those skills are beyond me at this point in time.
This image would be placed next to a choice of available colors. It would potentially read: "Color 1 Choices [list]", "Color 2 Choices [list]", and so on. This is because I must make sure I have size 11 and size 15 in the same shade to offer most areas. There would also be a note saying, more or less, that more colors could be purchased if the one you want isn't currently shown. Even though this is similar to the bulky interface I'm used to seeing it should intertwine with this concept seamlessly.PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me your feedback on this concept design!
If you were ordering a dress would this make customization an easy process for you?
Would you prefer a separate listing / color mock-up for things like stripes or alternate color placement ("make the bow color 2 instead of color 1"), or is that something you would rather discuss in a "request a custom item" feature / message to seller?
Is it clear to see which color goes where and how those colors blend together for the final product?
Do you even want
customization? Do you prefer pre-made ready-to-ship items?
If you really like this concept please go give it some attention on facebook! www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbi…
every time you hit like, comment, or share my work it spreads the word and gives me even more feedback! If this concept is successful I will create a mock-up for every dress available for customization.
I appreciate the help!
