Mirabilia's Dressmaker's Daughter (No Beads) by pinkythepink Mirabilia's Dressmaker's Daughter (No Beads) by pinkythepink
:happybounce: Oh, I'm so excited!! This is my modified version of Mirabilia's beautiful piece, Dressmaker's Daughter. Free download available to your right if you want to get closer. If you are interested in tips and what I learned starting this piece, please refer to Autumn's progress photos:
WIP 1, Mirabilia's Dressmaker's Daughter: Autumn by pinkythepink
I noticed that when it comes to Mirabilia there is a whole forum dedicated to her pieces [ mirabiliastitchers.yuku.com/ ] but most of the threads are people asking questions rather than answering them! Her patterns/kits don't come with instructions (like how to start on linen or how to attach the beads) so I've had to search quite high and low to find the information!

Technically this piece is still in a WIP stage as the beading is not started yet. Forgive me for all the seams on the image, I had to scan it in eight parts because my scanner isn't large enough and it didn't come out consistent despite my attempts. This is the last time I'll be able to scan it because once I start the beading I'll be unable. Beads create too many "valleys" or blurry spots while scanning, so the next time you see this piece it will be under my photographing skills. I thought it safe to scan the piece before I subject you to that!
WIP 2, Mirabilia's Dressmaker's Daughter: Winter by pinkythepinkWIP 3, Mirabilia's Dressmaker's Daughter: Summer by pinkythepinkWIP 4, Mirabilia's Dressmaker's Daughter: Spring by pinkythepink

Magical525 , Mattsma , Katjakay , SpitfireFae , Scienceandart , Fusainne , GraniteFire , cloudrat , and DoidaPorTi have been following along with this project through Skype, :facebook: Facebook, and stitchingpirates the entire time! I received most of my materials for Christmas last year and began stitching on February 9th, 2014, and am now done here on August 29th, 2014 (slight delay in taking photos and posting)! That's quite a bit of stitching and I managed to get all four seasons done in just three seasons. 8-)

My favorite dress is Spring but I am so biased because of all that pink! If I only focus on structure, Winter is my favorite dress. It's so much more 'gown' than the others and that appeals to me greatly. If only Winter was pink... :plotting:

Noticeable changes made from the original Mirabilia design is to re-organize the dresses from Spring to Winter (instead of Winter to Spring). I removed some corner detail stitches that would've landed under/around the text. I did not alter any coloring of the threads, though I was tempted to at times! Much of the leaves and flowers in the background are done in a gradient thread so they are unique for every piece done from this pattern.

Each blank spot left on the piece is going to be a bead. :) This includes some areas around the text but not the entire blank canvas between and around the dresses' backgrounds. Much of the warping you see in the fabric will be fixed once this is properly stretched and framed.

Overall, more than 40,000 stitches.

It's beautiful, and I can't tell you enough how much I love it and how I'm looking forward to the all-beaded version :D

When seeing your statistics like this, I'm quite amazed at how little colours this uses -  like, 40 something for four completely different colour schemes? My recent WIP seems to be only red, white and green, and has almost 70! :D

 Thank you thank you! It won't be much longer now!

It's pretty cool isn't it? :D I don't like the color blocking so much because it gets a bit boring for me, but it's a lot cleaner on the back not having to switch so often. The dress you're working with is sooooo pretty too... I imagine there's all sorts of shading in there because it's the main focus.

I have to admit I enjoy a bit of color blocking once in a while, it might get boring but it's also sooo relaxing :D

Mine is actually a coat, and it has about ten shades of red I think. The wings are the worst part where the shading is concerend :D

That's true too, haha :D

Oh! My mistake! She's going to have angel wings right? That's going to be a lottttt of speckling I imagine, all those feathers!

Well you already know I love these but I do like how you rearranged them. :) My favorite was winter till I saw spring and now they are both my favorite but for different reasons. Spring because I LOVE the color purple and winter because that dress is just sooo pretty!

It's wonderful - it wasn't till you showed a sneak preview of the beaded bit on your blog that I realised where the unstitched area's were lol - it looks great!

:happybounce: Yayyy, thank you again!! I thought the unstitched areas were so obvious :giggle: I'm happy to know that they aren't!

I would reply to your comment directly on the blog but there's a bug either with my browsers or the system where I can't reply to comments... it just poofs away into nothingness when I try to post. So thank you on that count too!

Only in real life when close up and personal I expect ;) Might be like you can *always* see that tiny mistake you made but nobody else does.

Naughty blog! I hope it's fixed now :)
