Houndstooth Purse Accessory Variations - Prototype

Since I cannot buy the plastic piece that came with the kit I have been working on creating replacements.

The upper left is the purse's front without anything covering it. Top center is the back but it also represents the purse without any side decoration. The upper right is the finished purse as intended by the kit.

The lower left is a flimsy plastic stand-in that is too short. I consider it a prototype but don't know if I will proceed with it as it's very thin and brittle.
Bottom center is made from thin brass with holes punched into it. In this case it's too large and the holes are difficult to make the correct size and even with each other. I hope to go forward with this material but I'm not familiar with metal work.
The lower right is 28-count white Aida fabric with shiny metallic thread run in stripes. While I found Aida too thick in the end and my skills with whip stitch lacking, I'm very pleased with the idea. Perhaps with thinner fabric I could decorate it with threads and create custom purse flaps. This is also the most customizable version I've tried.
