Merry Christmas to my amazing best friend, !AdidaTiki~

This is made from the same pattern as the Sky Blue dress, and is not from a kit. I went out and purchased these beads myself to create this very sparkly gift for her. <3 This is my first time doing a recolor from the kit patterns.

The photos do not do the dress justice. They are given sort of a rainbowy multicolor look to them, almost like too much brown or blue was mixed in. I assure you this is only a camera problem - the beads are a sort of delicate lavender with a rainbow coating which is difficult to pick up. The beads up the dress giving a minor stripey look are not the same - they are square-cut (hex-cut.. angle-cut.. uh.. not round) and give an intense amount of sparkle to the dress when turned and moved. They also have a rainbow coating. Because they're not round beads they fight against the dress pretty often, often making little V's instead of straight lines like I wanted. I have photos of this dress without the lacey fringe around the bottom, but they didn't come out as pretty as I'd like. I might post more photos at a later date, but they also might go into scraps as references.
Edit: You can see all the sparkly progress here: [link] You can also "like" my facebook page [link] to see lots of progress shots I don't normally post on dA! The original dress is quite lack-luster next to all that glitter.

Uses glass seed beads in rainbow lavender size 11, rainbow purple size 15, opaque black size 11, metallic hematite size 15, and clear silver-lined size 11. Threaded together with purple One G Japanese nylon. This variation on the pattern is much tighter, more well fitted, and cleaner than my first go.

I didn't cut the time back as much as I would have hoped to. Mom says that's because I did it better this time - if I had done it the same way as before it would have taken me less time, but because my skill is improved, my weave tighter/stronger, it took a more skilled amount of time. That being said... I still knocked off four hours from my previous work.

I packed this under three layers of packaging just to drive her crazy~ I wrapped it in some leftover batting from the quilt my mom recently made, wrapping paper, a box, wrapping paper, and another box with bubble protection and more paper. I'm sure the dress made it securely and without too much rattling through the mail.

I know the pain of weaving with non-round beads. It drives my OCD nuts. :XD:
That fringe is pretty cool! Good color choice, too. You did some pretty awesome work with this.
